You know your business website is not enough on its own to promote your business in today’s Internet search and social media world. But what to do, where to start and where to focus what little time you have for this new marketing leaves you confused. You feel you are missing out on a valuable marketing funnel and lead generation source.
You need a partner
You need someone to work with, short or long term, to show you what to do, when to do it, how to do it and most importantly WHY to do it.
What is Digital Marketing?
Digital Marketing is the term used for marketing your business on the Internet in the digital realm and through electronic devices of all kinds. Even if you have a leaflet designed and printed a computer will have been used and possibly a digital printer produced the end result. So although the central focus of digital marketing is Internet-based use of electronic media is now central to all marketing.
New media was a popular term (hence my business & domain name), and is still used to mean websites and online publishing in general as opposed to “old” media meaning magazines, TV, newspapers etc. The biggest transition in recent years has been in what is actually published and forms the “digital collateral” of marketing on the web. Blogs are now really compulsory if you want to show up in Google and video is becoming almost essential for communication with your customers with the rise of YouTube and the ever increasing ease of playing video on all devices and broadband connections.
The heart of the digital marketing strategy is content. That is, publishing useful information to educate and entertain your target audience with the objective that they carry out a specific action determined by you. It is the “inbound” way to attract customers and clients favoured both in search results and social media. Inbound has potential customers and clients find you for the help and expertise you give and brings them in to you. Buy the time they reach you they will already have built up trust in your expertise and knowledge.
Why do you need it?
To think in terms of if you need it or not is wrong. Your business needs marketing, just as businesses always have. Digital marketing is just the modern form of marketing just as other technologies have appeared and been harnessed by marketers and business owners marketing for themselves.
So don’t ask yourself, “Do I need digital marketing?” but rather, “How do I use digital marketing to increase leads and sales?”.
